Discovering my awareness

What exactly is that, what is awareness? Is it perhaps a realisation of the things around me, “oh look there’s a tree, there are plants and animals”, or of the people closeby, the ones I love, or of the objects in my life. Is it taking responsibility for my choices, my actions and my thoughts; well yes that also, but awareness is actually opening my eyes to the possibility of a new life, a new vision, a new perspective of how I see my place on this earth, of new experiences and how I see the future developing! As I head off to new horizons this summer (a week in Ireland and a month in the Caribbean) I feel a sense of excitement and of hope abound, I actually feel as though anything is possible!

Whatever I call it, this awareness I’ve reached, this new appreciation of life, my new consciousness, an eye-opening, eureka moment of living, I know one thing…I will never be the same. I have come to realise that in order to help change this planet, to help it evolve and flourish, I must first change myself and my preconceptions of it, of the environment, of society and of economics. This is something I have been working on for at least a decade or more…I’m slow to grasp. 🙂

A few years ago I made the conscious decision to become a vegetarian, I started to learn how to be more self-sufficient, more self-sustaining in life, not only physically but also emotionally and spiritually; however to date, I have not experienced half of which I want to practice – now is the time for an alternative lifestyle, time to actually live the experience instead of  reading about it in a book or on the internet. Although the truth be said, some of the books I’ve read and the people I’ve met over the last couple of years have helped tremendously to get me to this point now. In fact I’ve become a better version of myself!
